Source hierarchy
We prefer primary sources such as company filings, regulatory disclosures, government statistics, central-bank publications and official datasets. Reputable secondary sources may provide context, but the key evidence should be traceable to the underlying source where one is available.
Dates and revisions
Research identifies the relevant data date or cut-off. Historical data can be revised after publication; a later revision does not necessarily mean that the original analysis was wrong. Where a revision changes a conclusion, the affected work may be updated and noted.
Missing or inconsistent data
Breaks in a series, changes in definitions and missing observations are documented where material. We do not present an estimate as an observed fact without identifying the assumption.
Transformations
Where we convert currencies, adjust for inflation, calculate growth rates or build valuation measures, the method and relevant assumptions are stated in the report or model.
